Products with Shugozero brush painting on wood are a unique phenomenon of the artistic culture of the Shugozero region. This is a historically formed territory adjacent to the Shugozersky lakes. It is located in the upper reaches of the Pasha River and its tributaries - 70 km from Tikhvin.
The main distinctive element of the painting is a bird with blue plumage of wings and a branch of berries in its beak - "The Bird of Happiness". This is also what the locals call it.
According to the legends that are told in the modern Tikhvin region, the bird brings happiness and helps kind people. For example, she once helped a little boy who got lost in the forest - she fed him berries and brought him home.
