Mikhailovsky lace is one of the business cards of the Ryazan region. Due to its elegant multicolor it was known in Russia and other countries in the second half of the XIX century.

Its distinctive features from other types of lace:

* greater density compared to the laces of other areas

* a special method of weaving, called "numerical"

* strict geometric ornament, which uses the most ancient symbols of the sun, water, feminine, etc.,

* traditional colors - red, white, blue.

In spite of the colorfulness and originality of the designs of this craft, colored embroidery remained a home-based occupation until 1927, when the Worker gang was created, uniting the patrons of the housekeepers Mikhailov and the surrounding area.

In 1960, the main production of lace was concentrated on the Truzhenitsa construction factory, organized on the basis of an industrial artel.

In 1968, the products of the factory were highly appreciated at the exhibition of achievements of the national economy of the USSR, Mikhailovsky lace returned to the international market.

Modern Mikhailovsky lace, of course, differs from what was done in the 19th century: the color gamut was enriched, the ornament became more complicated, machine production appeared.

For the past 90 years, “The Worker” has been producing a wide range of highly artistic home interior items, as well as clothes, tablecloths and bed linen.

The craftsmen of the Mikhailovsky lace craft carefully preserve and skillfully rework the artistic traditions of folk art. Souvenirs such as towels, tablecloths, napkins, clothes and bed linen can be purchased at the factory’s worker’s shops.

In 2001, the products of JSC “Worker” were registered as samples of folk crafts recognized artistic dignity in the Ministry of Industry of the Russian Federation.
