Under the year 1732 in Slobodskom the bell-casting plant of Nikita Bakulev is mentioned. The factory had a wide range of bells of different weights that are the smallest, weighing less than one pood to large, in 1000 poods, heavy evangelists. The total number of workers reached 35 people, among whom were masters of foundry, moulders, artists and sculptors.

Almost 200 years of existence of the plant is due to its favorable geographical location near the Urals with its deposits of the best copper ores, near the navigable river Vyatka, and later - and the railway connecting Siberia with Moscow and Petersburg, north and south of Russia. The cheapness of fuel and labor allowed the plant to cast bells of the best quality and stand out of competition with the rest of the bell-making factories.

After 70 years of anti-church persecution in Russia, a widespread revival of Orthodox churches and parishes began. The need arose for the appearance of bell-foundries, which until 1917 in Russia there were more than 40.

Church bells on Vyatka are produced today by the collective of the enterprise "Vyatsky bells". Work on the restoration of artistic casting of bells on Vyatka land began in 2003. The employees of the enterprise faced the task of mastering the complex bell-making business of Russian masters. To restore the ancient technology, masters of foundry, moulders, and artists were involved. As a basis of the profile, the bells of the Slobodsky Bell-Foundry Plant were taken. Persistent long-term work, experimental research, study of old masters gave their result. In July 2004, there was born a bell weighing 32 kg - euphonic, clean, not inferior in quality to the bells of prerevolutionary masters.

 A new stage of the company's development began in 2005: in 2005 Vyatka bells with a mass of 6 kg and more rang in Vyatka, Izhevsk, Cheboksary and Chuvash, Yoshkar-Ola, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and other dioceses, reviving the former glory of Vyatka masters. Today OOO Vyatsky Bells produces church bells for Orthodox churches throughout Russia.
