Farfor Gzhel

The first successes in porcelain production in the late XVIII century. determined the fate of the Gzhel region, which later gave Russia a dynasty of the largest breeders of Kuznetsovs, who glorified Russian porcelain for the whole world.

Now JSC GFZ is the largest enterprise in the region producing traditional porcelain with hand-made cobalt painting. In the assortment of the plant more than 700 items of porcelain of various purposes, 70% of which are items of recognized artistic merit, produced under the brand name "Gzhel 1818". The technological process of porcelain production is constantly improving, but the painting itself, like 200 years ago, is applied to the products by hand by talented Gzhel craftsmen who pass on the secrets of their art by inheritance. At the plant and now the descendants of those porcelain workers who worked at the Kuznetsov factories and in their own artels of the Gzhel region are working.

The history of the Kuznetsov family, the founders of our plant, is inextricably linked to its past and present. In the period 1910-1913, in honor of the century of victory over Napoleon, with the money of Ivan Yemelyanovich Kuznetsov, the remarkable Russian architect Boris Mikhailovich Velikovsky was built on the family land of Kuznetsovs in Novo-Kharitonovo, the tent-shaped Old Believer church of St. George. In the temple was placed a porcelain enamel iconostasis, awarded at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900. The image of this Temple is now used in the hallmark of the Gzhel Porcelain Factory.

In 2013 employees of ZAO GFZ solemnly celebrated the 195th anniversary of the enterprise.
