Description
Gzhel is the most famous Russian folk craft, which is distinguished by a unique style of painting dishes and interior items made of ceramics.
Initially, Gzhel was colored, and in the 18th century, craftsmen began to use cobalt. This dark gray paint turns bright blue during the firing process.
This is how the recognizable Gzhel style of blue landscape and plant painting appeared, which is combined with geometric ornament on a snow-white background. The craftsmen paint each item only by hand.
