SPIEF 2021: Anna Nesterova spoke about women's entrepreneurship projects in BRICS
On June 3, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a panel discussion "BRICS Economic Partnership in New Conditions" was held.

The event was attended by Apollo Tires Managing Director Onkar Kanwar, NDB President Markus Troyho, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ilyichev, Deputy General Director for Sales and Marketing of PhosAgro PJSC Sergey Pronin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global Rus Trade, Chairman of the Russian part of the Women's BRICS Business Alliance Anna Nesterova.

The session was moderated by Sergei Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

The speakers discussed the role of the BRICS countries in the recovery of the global economy after the pandemic, the priorities of the Indian BRICS presidency and their relationship with the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals, the most relevant trends in business cooperation within the framework of the Five.

In his speech, Onkar Kanwar emphasized the role of the BRICS countries in restoring trade and economic cooperation after the pandemic. “COVID-19 has exposed the fragility of the global economy,” said the chairman of the Indian part of the BRICS Business Council. However, with a rich human capital and an emphasis on digital technologies, clean energy and environmental preservation, the BRICS countries can cope with the challenges of the future and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Vladimir Ilyichev presented the main directions of the BRICS Economic Partnership Strategy until 2025. Among the key issues, the speaker highlighted the issues of intellectual property and consumer protection in the context of a pandemic, food security and the production of "green" fertilizers, the development of remote and rural areas through e-commerce channels, the development of sustainable development technologies and others.

Anna Nesterova spoke about women's entrepreneurship projects that are currently being discussed within the BRICS Women's Business Alliance. “The current situation has created harmonious conditions for the start of cooperation in the organic farming sector,” the speaker noted. Thus, the Russian side proposed the creation of the BRICS Organic Farming Association. As part of the establishment of the Association, on May 27, a strategic session was held, which brought together more than 20 national experts from all five BRICS countries.

It is assumed that the creation of the Association will facilitate the effective exchange of innovative experience and best farming practices, raise awareness of local and national communities in the value of organic farming and make it, in the end, the new “normal” - affordable for everyone, and not elite and expensive. Anna drew particular attention to the fact that this initiative was supported by all partners in the "five".

Active work is also carried out in the direction of innovative development. Anna spoke about the proposal to create a single platform for the BRICS Women's Business Alliance, which came from the Russian side. Such a platform will allow access to the database of women entrepreneurs from the “five” countries and their products, as well as educational and informational content.

Other initiatives of the Russian part include the development of Guidelines for Fire Safety in Transport in Tourism in the BRICS Countries, as well as the organization of the BRICS Business Forum "Green Fashion and Universal Design", which will focus on the presentation of brands and cultural characteristics of the "five" countries.

Anna stressed that the Russian part of the Alliance aims to present concrete results by the end of this year.
