Global Rus Trade took part in UNCTAD's e-Commerce Week

    On April 18, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Global Rus Trade Anna Nesterova made a presentation on the services provided by B2B marketplaces.

    The section was also attended by the founder and general director of IndiaMART Dinesh Agarwal, co-founder and director of IndiaMART Bridges Agarwal, head of the techUK policy department Giles Derrington, chairman of the Ecommerce Forum Africa Dylan Piatti and others.

    Anna Nesterova noted that electronic commerce in the B2B sector is part of the export infrastructure to promote national goods and services in foreign markets. On electronic trading platforms (ETP), suppliers and buyers find each other. B2B marketplaces primarily provide marketing and information support, increasing the trust of foreign partners.

    In 2017, the volume of B2B e-commerce worldwide amounted to 7.7 billion dollars, exceeding the volume of the B2C sector by 3.5 times. In Russia, the contribution of the B2B sector to electronic commerce is underestimated. To him in our country is only corporate procurement. A significant constraint in the development of B2B e-commerce is the ban on electronic payments between businesses. In fact, when looking for partners on ETP, the transaction itself is off-line.

    Anna Nesterova stressed that in order to improve marketplaces, it is necessary to conduct constant surveys of exporters and importers about their problems and needs. The most important service, in her opinion, is the verification of registered companies based on data from several sources. At the same time information about users needs to be updated with some periodicity.

    Another plus for international sites is multilingual and adaptation of content for the linguistic and cultural features of partners from other countries.

    A very important service that some ETPs provide is the offline support of traders. Many clients require information assistance related to negotiating, certification of products, the search for the best logistics, and so on.

    In the development of services provided by the ETP, their cooperation is important, Anna Nesterova is sure. There are no two identical marketplaces, each has its own specialization: from the point of view of countries, goods or services. Cooperation ETP will contribute to the fact that when searching for the necessary service, an exporter or importer will have access to a single data set about what services are on the market. Cooperation may include the exchange of links, the development of common standards for the structure and design of individual functional units, as well as the constant exchange of experience to improve the effectiveness of the marketplace, Anna Nesterova added.
