Anna Nesterova took part in the Russia-ASEAN forum

Anna Nesterova took part in the Russia-ASEAN forum

On 19 May, the Russia-ASEAN Business Forum took place in Sochi, where the REC's section "Russian Export Potential: Implementing the Strategic Priorities for the Development of ASEAN Member States" was held. The founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors of LLC "Global Rus Trade" Anna Nesterova made a presentation on the role of small and medium-sized businesses in global value chains. The delegates of the event pointed out that for the development of foreign trade between Russia and ASEAN countries it is necessary to develop electronic b2b sites. Participants stressed that now the main problem for the development of foreign trade is that companies do not know each other. That is why it is difficult for business to develop mutual trade. Mr. Uudet Suvanavong noted that e-commerce is a chance and an opportunity for rapprochement, penetration and integration of our countries. In view of the lack of information on projects, this is necessary to strengthen cooperation between our countries. Anna Nesterova said that in ASEAN countries in the small and medium business (SME) employs 70 to 90% of the population. These are very serious resources: from 30 to 50% of GDP is formed at the expense of SMEs and up to 99% of companies is SMEs. Small and medium business is a serious force that needs to be given the right to vote and the right to integrate into the global value chains, the right to declare itself. If we are talking about global value chains and large projects, it is necessary that representatives of small and medium-sized business associations of Russia have the opportunity to speak out. Small and medium-sized enterprises in Russia are ready to take into account the needs of customers and are more flexible in terms of supply. Unfortunately, our national players are not so well known in the ASEAN countries. In Russia there is a large number of companies focused on foreign markets and supplying a product that is competitive in price and quality. In Russia there are about 16,2 thousand small and medium-sized companies, which are export oriented. Among them there are enterprises that produce completely different products - from IT-programs, consumer products, such as antiseptic hand gels, to high-tech equipment. While companies from Russia are not so easy to enter the ASEAN market, since this market is not traditional for our country. The main barriers to this are three: low business awareness about each other (lack of extensive business practices), as a result - low level of trust (contracts mostly mean prepayment), and the third - the language barrier. That is why it is very important now to stimulate the creation of electronic b2b sites, such as , which will allow the creation of showcases for high-quality production goods on the Internet.
