“Honey Technology” LTD is a specialized company of the Republic of Bashkortostan which is engaged into apiculture products development. The Company’s principal lines of activity are as follows:

- collection and sales of natural products of beekeeping in Russia and in the world market, in particular Bashkir honey and queen bees of Central Russian breed ;

- development, production and sales of the products (food products, therapeutic and prophylactic products) manufactured on the basis and using apiculture products in Russia and in the world market. Innovative developments are based on biologically active products of beekeeping - Bashkir honey, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, etc., whose properties are unique thanks to nature of Bashkortostan.

“Honey Technology” LTD has a staff specialist who verifies the quality of products using the methods recognized by the Italian Guild of Experts in sensory analysis of honey.

Today “Honey Technology” LTD has its customers in the United States, Kuwait, Japan and Canada.

The promoter of “Honey Technology” LTD is the Non-public unit investment fund of venture investments “Regional venture fund of investments in small-scale business in the scientific and engineering sphere of the Republic of Bashkortostan”.

NATURAL BASHKIR HONEY

The modern territory of Bashkortostan has long been famous as a country of honey. In Birsk cemetery, whose age is about one and a half thousand years, the archeologists found a complete outfit of wild-hive beekeeper among other utensils. Today Bashkortostan is the only place on Earth where apiculture with wild bees (wild-hive beekeeping) has remained as a trade.

In the second half of the XVIII century the famous Russian geographer and historian, the first member of the Academy of Sciences Pyotr Rychkov when studying the nature and life of the Southern Urals noted that “ the Bashkir people are quite diligent and skillful in horse breeding centers and wild-hive beekeepin." His son Nikolai Rychkov, traveling in 1769 -1770 in the north-west direction from Ufa to Vyatka and Perm lands, admired the art of Bashkir beekeepers and wrote: "... no other nation ever can excel them (Bashkir people) in beekeeping trade”.

Masters of beekeeping in Bashkortostan at all times obtained a high yield of medicinal honey excellent in its quality.

Since that time, when the packaging of comb-honey became attractive and suitable for long-distance transportation, the Bashkir honey started to gain popularity. In 1832 the Moscow Barmin’s factory of tinware delivered to Ufa the first batch of lithographed boxes labeled "Ufa aromatic comb-honey." That year 300 poods (pood = 16.38 kg) of comb-honey was purchase for the first time on Ufa market. By 1900, the Ufa honey market took the first place in production of comb honey in Russia.

In the same 1900 the fame of the Bashkir honey stepped over not only the borders of Ufa province, the Urals, but the borders of Russian state. At the Paris World Fair the Bashkir comb-honey (gathered from lime flowers) won the gold medal.

In the following years the beekeepers from Bashkiria has successfully participated in international congresses, conferences, exhibitions and fairs of beekeeping, presenting their exhibits and scientific reports.

In October 1961 at the International Exhibition of gardening, horticulture, floriculture and apiculture in Erfurt, Germany, the international jury rewarded the Soviet Union with 15 gold medals, including 2 gold medals for high-quality Bashkir honey.

In 1971 in Moscow at the International Congress on beekeeping, organized by the International Federation of Beekeeping Associations (APIMONDIA), the Bashkir honey gathered from lime flowers was rewarded with a gold medal – the highest award of APIMONDIA.

In 2013 "Honey Technology" LTD presented the Bashkir honey in the framework of the 43rd International Apiculture Congress "Apimondia-2013" in Kiev city. The international jury awarded the Bashkir honey with a complete set of medals - Gold Medal in the nomination "The Best Honey in the World", Silver Medal in the nomination "Brand Honey" and Bronze medal in the nomination "Light Honey".

The Bashkir honey is appreciated for its properties, acquired due to natural and climatic conditions of Bashkortostan, its rich and unique flora. More than one-third of the territory of Bashkortostan is covered by the densest forests on the territory from the Altai to the Carpathians. In addition, one third of the lime-tree forests of Russia grows in Bashkortostan. The Bashkir forests are notable for numerous melliferous herbs and trees.

400 melliferous plants not only from forests but also from mountains, meadows and fields create the unique bouquet of Bashkir honey. You can hardly meet such a variety of flowering melliferous plants in some other corner of Russia.

The Bashkir honey is ecologically clean and healing product created by the nature itself. The Bashkir honey is unique due to diversity of its medicinal properties. It is gathered from herbs. In addition to the well-known species of herbs, such as lime, rose, marjoram, St. John's wort, motherwort, valerian, sage, dandelion, plantain and chamomile one can find rare species - fescue, spring adonis, timothy grass prairie, sagebrush silky, wind-flower, feather hair-worm, thyme, meadow rue, alpine aster and others.

Many scientists are studying the composition and properties of the Bashkir honey, noting its exquisite taste, high quality and the fact that it is not possible to create it in laboratories.

The Bashkir honey has always been a national brand and one of the symbols of Bashkortostan.

TYPES OF NATURAL BASHKIR HONEY

• Bashkir linden (white) honey

The Bashkir linden honey is an elite variety, one of the best Russian honeys, is notable for fine-grained texture and great taste with a subtle sweet scent of linden flowers. Fresh linden honey is colorless, it becomes white with golden or light amber tinge after crystallization. White honey contains 36-37% of glucose and 39-40% of fructose and has valuable nutritional and medicinal properties. It has been successfully used to treat diseases of the respiratory tract, kidneys and gallbladder, as heart restorative, in cases of inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract.

The Bashkir white honey has been repeatedly rewarded with top prizes - gold medals – at international fairs and exhibitions.

The Republic of Bashkortostan can truly be considered the guardian of linden forests, Bashkortostan ranks first in Russia and has more than 1 million hectares of linden forests (one third of the lime-tree forests of Russia grows in Bashkortostan).

• Bashkir buckwheat honey

Bashkir buckwheat honey is aromatic, healing and rich in minerals. It is one of the best varieties of Russian honey.

Bees make it from the buckwheat flowers nectar, which contains proteins, carbohydrates, fats, micro doses of iron, calcium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, boron, iodine, nickel, cobalt, as well as vitamins B1, B2, PP and others.

The color of buckwheat honey is from dark yellow, reddish to dark brown, it becomes dark yellow after crystallization. It has a spicy taste with piquant bitterness, pleasant aroma and it can be distinguished from other honeys. Crystallization makes it pappy and does not let it harden.

Buckwheat honey is a wonderful antiseptic, it makes treatment of venous ulcers, festering wounds, boils and other skin diseases effective. It is recommended for the treatment of anemia as it contains iron.

• Bashkir mixed flower honey

Bees gather it starting in the early spring when plants are blooming: willow, maple, coltsfoot, anemone, lungwort, and till late autumn, when other melliferous herbs finish blooming: globe thistle, Odontites, toadflax, hemp nettle. The unique aroma of the mixed flower Bashkir honey is created thanks to dozens of various types of forest, mountain, meadow, field and steppe herbs, trees and shrubs – small-leaved lime, Norway maple, mountain ash, wild cherry, hawthorn, raspberry, willow-herb, angelica, Aegopodium and many others, about 400 melliferous plants.

The color palette of the Bashkir mixed flower honey is various - from nearly white, light amber and golden-yellow to dark brown.

Mixed flower honey has high nutritional and medicinal properties. The composition of melliferous plants determines healing properties of honey. If the honey contains nectar from the flowers of dandelion, lime, phacelia, alfalfa, it can be recommended for prevention and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Mixed flower honey is used in diets, it is recommended as a general tonic.

• Bashkir steppe honey

The Bashkir steppe honey is qualified as a high-grade honey. It is polyphlore as it is collected by bees from the flowers of steppe mixed grass. Its bouquet is formed by such melliferous plants as alpine aster, Galium, steppe sage, Seseli, Marshall’s cornflower, thyme, yarrow, spirea, and others, more than 100 steppe healing plants.

Taste of honey is delicate, exquisite. Its color - from bright, whitish to golden amber, mostly of amber hues.

Steppe honey of Bashkortostan is rich in microelements and amino acids. It stimulates the protective functions of the body, normalizes physiological processes of all organs.
