Galina Maslennikova is one of the most famous Moscow doll artists and for almost 30 years has been successfully managing the “Production and Art Workshop“ Russian Dolls ”, which she created in Moscow.

“Galina Maslennikova has revived and continues the traditions of artisanal production of Russian art dolls, which were lost at the beginning of the 20th century,” wrote the candidate of art history Galina Dain, the most famous art critic on folk toys, in the magazine “Folk Art”.

Like a hundred years ago, the manufacture of dolls in the workshop is carried out by hand, and all ethnographic puppet costumes and puppet compositions from the life of a Russian village in the 19th century are developed with historical accuracy using only natural materials.

The art director of the workshop Galina Maslennikova is the author of all dolls samples. At the same time, Galina is also a talented organizer - she managed to unite in her work on dolls excellent artists and craftsmen not only from Moscow and the Moscow region, but also from other regions.

The labor of 10-12 people is invested in each doll. Such truly folk dolls have long been highly appreciated by the State Expert Council and were classified as products of folk art crafts.

Since 1991, Galina has taken part in many prestigious exhibitions in Moscow and abroad, has many diplomas and awards, and dolls from the workshop and compositions with dolls: "Peasant hut", "Mill", "Fair", "Russian bath", "Winter games for children ”are in museums in America, Japan, Belgium, Austria, France and Germany, including private collections.

The high artistic level of the dolls from the studio of Galina Maslennikova, their extraordinary brilliance allows the dolls to be used to decorate shop windows, interiors of country houses, and they are simply bought with pleasure as a gift or souvenir. Moreover, the workshop offers dolls for various holidays: Easter, Christmas, Maslenitsa, Trinity, etc.

In addition, ethnographic dolls from the workshop are an excellent educational material for children's institutions and schools that study Russian folk culture. After all, even teachers at the beginning of the 20th century noted the educational and cognitive value of ethnographic dolls. So, for example, with an educational purpose to get acquainted with the folk life of Russia, a unique series of ethnographic dolls was made for the children of the royal family.

The largest exhibition of dolls by Galina Maslennikova is located in her ancestral home in the Vladimir region (the former Pokrovsky district). This house was built back in 60 years 19 in her great-grandfather Dumnov Ivan Fadeevich - a textile manufacturer who was one of the first in this region to organize the manual production of silk velvet ...
