OJSC "Kirov knitting factory" produces knitwear from half-woolen and cotton yarn and in combination with various attachments, as well as from cotton and viscose cloths. The range of products of the company is underwear and knitwear for adults and children.

And it all started like this. The Kirov cooperative industrial production company "Chulochnik" was formed on October 21, 1928. The artel organized the work of handicraftsmen in the manufacture of upper and lower cotton knitwear.

On the basis of the decision of the Presidium of the Obshshveytikotazhsoyuz of December 27, 1941, the artel "Chulochnik" was poured into the artel "Tekstilshchik". The artel organized the work of handicraftsmen in the manufacture of knitwear from rabbit fuzz and goat hair.

On the basis of the decision of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of March 6, 1946, from the Artel "Tekstilchik" the artel "Chulochnik" was again allocated to an independent economic unit, and in 1949 the artel was again transferred to the system of the Obshshveytikotazhsoyuz.

In 1953, by the decision of the general meeting of the members of the artel, its name was changed to "Trikotazhnik", and then "Kirtrikotazh".

Since 1956, the Kirtrikotazh artel has become known as the Knitting Factory of the regional administration of local industry.

June 4, 1963, in accordance with the Decree of the Council of the National Economy of the Volga-Vyatka economic region, the Kirov knitting and glove production association for the manufacture of knitted, glove and down products was set up, which is subordinated to the management of the textile and knitted industry of the Volga-Vyatka Sovnarkhoz.

Kirov knitting and glove production association united 4 factories, including two factories in the city of Kirov: a knitting factory and a factory of downy-knitted products, as well as the Kotelnich spinning and knitting factory and the Soviet glove factory. The main enterprise was the former Kirov knitting factory, and the factory of down-knitted products, the Kotelnich spinning and knitting factory and the Soviet glove factory entered the association.

In 1991, a conference of the labor collective "On the formation of a partnership of tenants" created the Kirov Industrial and Trade Knitting Association consisting of: Kirov knitting factory, Kotelnich knitting factory, Soviet knitting factory.

In 1992, the Kirov knitting factory became an independent economic entity.
